Mini Goldendoodle Puppies for Sale Near Detroit, MI

Looking for mini or medium Goldendoodle puppies for sale near Detroit? Michigan Doodles is a small, family-owned breeder in Swartz Creek, Michigan — about 70 miles northwest of Detroit, roughly an hour up I-75 and I-69. We’re not in Detroit, and we won’t pretend to be. What we are is close enough that a metro Detroit family can drive up in the morning, spend real time with a litter, and be home the same afternoon.

We’ve been raising Goldendoodles for more than 30 years. Our puppies are born and raised in our home, surrounded by children and other pets — not in a separate facility. If you’re weighing a trip up here against a listing you found on a puppy directory, this page lays out exactly what the drive involves and what you’d find at the other end of it.

The Short Version

  • What we raise: F1B Mini Goldendoodles (22–30 lbs) and Medium Goldendoodles (30–50 lbs), with litters throughout the year. Litters typically include both males and females; each listing shows the puppy’s sex, generation and expected adult weight.
  • Health: every adult dog in our program is genetically screened through Embark, and every puppy goes home with a written 2-year health guarantee.
  • Reserving: a $250 deposit holds a specific spot and gender in the litter you choose. Current pricing is listed on each puppy on our available puppies page.
  • Getting here: about an hour from most of metro Detroit — and there are delivery and transport options if you’d rather not drive.

How Far Is Swartz Creek From Detroit?

Swartz Creek sits just southwest of Flint, right on I-69. From Detroit, the standard route is I-75 north to I-69 west — about 70 miles, and roughly an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes depending on traffic. Our contact page puts it the same way: about an hour northwest of Detroit.

Where you’re starting from moves that number around:

  • Wayne County — Detroit proper, Dearborn and Livonia usually run I-75 north, or head west and take US-23 north through Brighton and Fenton.
  • Oakland County — Royal Oak, Troy, Birmingham and Rochester Hills are already partway. I-75 north through Pontiac, Auburn Hills and Grand Blanc is the straight shot and typically shaves fifteen or twenty minutes off the Detroit figure.
  • Macomb County — Sterling Heights, Warren and Mt. Clemens generally pick up M-59 west to I-75 north.

We serve metro Detroit — Detroit, Dearborn, Royal Oak and Troy, along with Mt. Clemens, Farmington Hills, Ann Arbor, Brighton and Fenton. You can see the rest of the areas we serve on our areas served page.

What a Visit Day Actually Looks Like

Here’s how reserving a puppy actually runs, so you can plan the trip. Scheduled visits are welcome when timing allows, and the puppy-selection visit itself happens at 7–8 weeks.

  • You place a $250 deposit on a litter that has availability, and we confirm it by email or text.
  • We stay in touch through the early weeks and send pictures of the litter as the puppies grow.
  • At 7–8 weeks you come up and choose your puppy in person. This is the visit worth planning around. If you can’t travel, you can select from pictures and videos instead. You get your take-home information at this point, including what food your puppy is eating and when to schedule your first vet appointment.
  • Pickup happens at 8–9 weeks, on a day and time we arrange with you.

One thing to plan for: to keep the litter healthy, we don’t allow visitors until the puppies have had their first round of vaccinations. Call or text before you set a date so we can tell you when the litter is ready for company. Nobody should drive up from Detroit on a guess.

If You'd Rather Not Make the Drive

Not everyone can put two round trips on the calendar, and that’s fine. Delivery is free within 50 miles of us, and metro Detroit sits outside that radius — so there are a few options depending on where you are:

  • Ground delivery is available for an additional fee.
  • Puppy nanny service is available if you’d like a more personal hand-off — call for pricing.
  • Airport shipping is available to all major airports for $450, which includes transportation to the airport, the flight, a crate and a health certificate.

Call us at (810) 280-4300 and we’ll tell you what your address would involve before you commit to anything. If you go the delivery route, you’d select your puppy from pictures and videos at 7–8 weeks, exactly as families who visit in person do.

What You'd Be Driving Up to See

Our puppies are born and raised inside our house, surrounded by ordinary family life — children, other pets, the vacuum running, people coming and going. They get daily handling and stimulation, which is a large part of why they settle into new homes as confidently as they do.

We keep the program small on purpose. Our girls get generous time between litters and we cap how many litters we have in a year, which is also why we can tell you which puppy is the cuddler and which one is going to steal your socks. That’s the part a directory listing can’t give you.

We currently raise F1B Mini and Medium Goldendoodles — minis mature around 22–30 lbs, mediums around 30–50 lbs. You can see who is here now, with each puppy’s sex and expected adult weight, on our available puppies page.

Health Testing and the 2-Year Guarantee

Every adult dog in our breeding program is genetically screened through Embark. Results for both parents are available on request — ask, and we’ll show you.

Every puppy leaves with a written 2-year health guarantee covering genetic and congenital defects, along with age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a vet health check before pickup. The full terms are on our health testing and guarantee page.

Reserving a Puppy and What the Deposit Holds

The deposit is $250. It’s nonrefundable, but it can be applied to any puppy for up to one year, and it holds a specific spot and gender in the litter you choose. That flexibility matters more than people expect — if the timing doesn’t work out on one litter, you’re not starting over.

Current pricing is shown on each puppy on our available puppies page, and the deposit terms are set out on the process and pricing page.

Availability varies. Some litters fill within days of being announced; others still have openings right up to pickup week. If you have questions about generations, coats or grooming before you commit, our FAQ page covers most of them.

What the Drive Gets You

There’s no shortage of Goldendoodle puppies advertised closer to Detroit. What a classified listing usually can’t offer is the thing buyers actually want: standing in the room where the puppies were born, meeting the parents, and talking to the person who raised them.

The phone number on this page reaches us directly. The adult dogs are genetically screened and we’ll share the results. And we stay in touch with our families for the life of every puppy we place — questions about training, grooming, food or vet visits don’t stop being welcome after pickup day. That’s what the drive up buys you.
